FRAN’S IMPERIAL HOLIDAY SUGAR COOKIES RECIPE:
Ingredients:
1 cup of margarine or butter (any kind)
1 cup sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
1 egg
1 tsp water
3 cups flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
milk
Instructions:
Thoroughly cream butter/margarine, sugar, and vanilla.
Add 1 egg and water; beat until light and fluffy.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
Blend into creamed mixture (1 cup of flour mixture at a time).
Divide dough in half. Chill 1 hour.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into 1/8” thickness. (Put flour on rolling pin too.)
Cut into desired shapes. Brush lightly with milk, and add decorations. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 375° for 6 to 8 minutes (until edges start to turn golden brown). Cool slightly, and then remove from pan.
Enjoy, and happy holidays from NJSTR!
